Types of Manuscript

TYPES OF MANUSCRIPT

Acceleration: Multidisciplinary Research Journal (AMRJ)

Acceleration: Multidisciplinary Research Journal (AMRJ) accepts several types of scholarly manuscripts that contribute meaningfully to the development of knowledge within the journal's Focus and Scope.

All manuscripts must demonstrate academic rigor, originality, methodological appropriateness, ethical compliance, and a clear scholarly contribution.

The editorial team reserves the right to determine whether a submitted manuscript is appropriate for the selected manuscript category.

1. Original Research Article

An Original Research Article presents original findings resulting from empirical, theoretical, experimental, qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research.

Research articles should clearly identify a research problem or question, explain the methodological approach, present evidence-based findings, and discuss the significance of the results in relation to existing scholarship.

A research article normally includes:

  1. Title

  2. Author(s) and affiliation(s)

  3. Abstract

  4. Keywords

  5. Introduction

  6. Literature Review or Theoretical Framework

  7. Method

  8. Results

  9. Discussion

  10. Conclusion

  11. References

Where appropriate, additional sections may be included depending on the research design and disciplinary conventions.

2. Review Article

A Review Article critically examines and synthesizes existing scholarly literature on a clearly defined topic.

A review article should not merely summarize previous studies. It should identify patterns, debates, methodological developments, theoretical perspectives, limitations, inconsistencies, and opportunities for future research.

A review article should normally contain:

  • a clearly defined topic or research problem;

  • a transparent literature search approach;

  • appropriate selection of relevant scholarly sources;

  • critical synthesis of the literature;

  • identification of research gaps; and

  • implications for future research or practice.

3. Systematic Literature Review

A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) provides a structured, transparent, and reproducible synthesis of existing research.

The manuscript should explain:

  • the research questions;

  • databases or sources searched;

  • search terms or search strategy;

  • inclusion and exclusion criteria;

  • screening and selection procedures;

  • data extraction procedures;

  • quality assessment, where applicable; and

  • synthesis or analysis methods.

Authors are encouraged to follow an appropriate recognized reporting framework for systematic reviews when applicable to the research topic.

4. Conceptual or Theoretical Article

A Conceptual or Theoretical Article develops, examines, critiques, integrates, or proposes concepts, theories, models, or theoretical frameworks relevant to the journal's scope.

Such articles should provide a clear intellectual contribution and demonstrate substantial engagement with relevant scholarly literature.

A conceptual or theoretical article should not be merely an opinion or general essay. It must present a coherent scholarly argument supported by appropriate evidence and literature.

5. Methodological Article

A Methodological Article presents a significant methodological development, analytical approach, research instrument, framework, model, or procedure that may contribute to research practice.

The manuscript should clearly explain:

  • the methodological problem;

  • the proposed approach;

  • its theoretical or technical basis;

  • implementation or application;

  • advantages and limitations; and

  • potential applications in relevant research contexts.

6. Case Study Article

A Case Study Article provides an in-depth examination of a specific case, institution, community, organization, event, phenomenon, policy, or other clearly bounded research subject.

The manuscript should provide sufficient contextual information and demonstrate how the case contributes to broader academic understanding.

A case study should be supported by an appropriate research methodology and evidence.

7. Short Communication / Research Note

A Short Communication or Research Note presents a concise but significant scholarly contribution that may not require the length or structure of a full research article.

Examples may include:

  • preliminary but significant findings;

  • concise methodological developments;

  • focused empirical observations;

  • emerging research issues; or

  • brief scholarly analyses.

Acceptance of short communications is subject to editorial discretion and the availability of sufficient scholarly contribution.

8. Editorially Invited Contributions

The journal may consider invited scholarly contributions when requested by the Editor-in-Chief or editorial team.

Invited contributions remain subject to appropriate editorial assessment and, where applicable, peer review.

Invitation does not guarantee publication.

9. Manuscripts Not Normally Considered

AMRJ generally does not consider manuscripts that are:

  • purely opinion-based without scholarly support;

  • promotional or commercial in nature;

  • substantially identical to previously published work;

  • simultaneously submitted to another journal;

  • outside the journal's Focus and Scope;

  • lacking sufficient methodological or scholarly basis; or

  • inconsistent with the journal's publication ethics.

10. General Requirements for All Manuscript Types

Regardless of manuscript category, all submissions must:

  1. be original;

  2. make a meaningful scholarly contribution;

  3. comply with the journal's Focus and Scope;

  4. comply with research ethics requirements;

  5. follow the Author Guidelines;

  6. use appropriate and current scholarly references;

  7. disclose relevant conflicts of interest;

  8. disclose funding where applicable;

  9. comply with authorship requirements;

  10. comply with the AMRJ AI Policy; and

  11. comply with the journal's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

11. Editorial Assessment

The editorial team will initially assess whether a manuscript:

  • fits the journal's scope;

  • matches an accepted manuscript category;

  • meets minimum academic and methodological standards;

  • complies with publication ethics;

  • demonstrates sufficient originality; and

  • follows the journal's submission requirements.

The Editor-in-Chief may request that authors clarify or revise the manuscript category when the submitted category does not accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.

12. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass initial editorial screening may be submitted for peer review.

The review process is determined by the editorial team based on:

  • manuscript type;

  • disciplinary area;

  • methodological approach;

  • subject expertise required; and

  • applicable editorial policies.

All manuscripts are evaluated based on academic merit rather than the author's institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, religion, or other personal characteristics.

13. Recommended Structure

The structure of a manuscript may vary according to the type of research.

Authors should not force a manuscript into an inappropriate structure. Instead, the organization should clearly communicate:

  • the research problem;

  • relevant scholarly context;

  • methodology or analytical approach;

  • evidence or findings;

  • interpretation;

  • scholarly contribution; and

  • implications or conclusions.

Detailed formatting requirements are provided in the Author Guidelines.
