Authorship Criteria

AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA

Acceleration: Multidisciplinary Research Journal (AMRJ)

1. General Principle

Acceleration: Multidisciplinary Research Journal (AMRJ) recognizes authorship as an important academic responsibility. Authorship must accurately reflect substantial intellectual and scholarly contributions to the conception, conduct, analysis, interpretation, and preparation of a manuscript.

All individuals listed as authors must have made meaningful contributions to the work and must be able to take responsibility for their respective contributions.

Authorship must not be granted solely on the basis of academic position, institutional affiliation, supervision, funding, administrative responsibility, or personal relationships.

2. Criteria for Authorship

An individual should normally be listed as an author when they have made substantial contributions to the research and manuscript, including one or more of the following:

  1. conception or design of the research;

  2. development of the research methodology;

  3. acquisition, collection, or generation of research data;

  4. analysis or interpretation of research data;

  5. development of theoretical or conceptual frameworks;

  6. drafting substantial portions of the manuscript; or

  7. critically revising the manuscript for important intellectual content.

In addition, all authors must:

  • approve the final version of the manuscript;

  • agree to its submission and publication;

  • participate appropriately in responding to editorial or post-publication concerns; and

  • accept responsibility for the integrity of their respective contributions.

3. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communication between the authors and the journal during the submission, review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author should:

  • ensure that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript;

  • provide accurate author information;

  • communicate with the editorial office when necessary;

  • coordinate responses to reviewer and editor comments;

  • obtain approval from all authors for substantial revisions;

  • ensure that authorship information remains accurate throughout the publication process; and

  • assist the journal in addressing questions concerning the manuscript after publication.

Being designated as the corresponding author does not necessarily imply that the individual made the greatest contribution to the research.

4. Order of Authors

The order of authors should be determined collectively by the authors before submission.

AMRJ does not prescribe a universal author-order system because conventions differ across disciplines. However, the author order should accurately reflect the contributions agreed upon by all authors.

All authors are responsible for ensuring that the submitted author list and order are correct.

5. Contributors Who Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Individuals who provide assistance but do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors.

Such contributions may include:

  • administrative assistance;

  • general supervision without substantial intellectual contribution;

  • language or proofreading assistance;

  • technical assistance;

  • data collection performed solely as a routine assigned task; or

  • financial or institutional support without substantial intellectual contribution.

Where appropriate, such contributions may be recognized in the Acknowledgments section.

6. Guest, Gift, Honorary, and Ghost Authorship

AMRJ does not permit inappropriate authorship practices, including:

Guest authorship – listing an individual as an author who has not made a substantial contribution.

Gift or honorary authorship – granting authorship because of academic position, seniority, institutional status, personal relationships, or other reasons unrelated to scholarly contribution.

Ghost authorship – excluding an individual who made a substantial contribution to the research or manuscript.

Authors are expected to ensure that the author list accurately represents the actual contributors to the work.

7. Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after manuscript submission must be justified and submitted to the editorial office.

Such changes normally require:

  1. a clear explanation of the reason for the change;

  2. written agreement from all existing authors;

  3. written agreement from any author being added or removed; and

  4. approval from the editorial team.

Authorship changes after publication will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and may require publication of a formal correction to the scholarly record.

8. Disputes Concerning Authorship

AMRJ encourages authors to resolve authorship issues among themselves before submission.

The journal does not normally determine the contribution of individual researchers in disputes between authors. When necessary, the editorial team may request clarification or supporting documentation and may refer the matter to the relevant institution or responsible authority.

The journal may suspend the editorial process while a significant authorship dispute is being investigated.

9. Author Responsibility

All authors share responsibility for ensuring that:

  • the manuscript is accurate and original;

  • sources and contributions are properly acknowledged;

  • relevant conflicts of interest are disclosed;

  • ethical requirements are satisfied;

  • research data and findings are reported honestly; and

  • the final manuscript accurately represents the research conducted.

Authors should also comply with the journal's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement, AI Policy, and Author Guidelines.

10. AI and Authorship

Artificial intelligence tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

AI systems do not meet the requirements for human authorship because they cannot take responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, ethical conduct, and final approval of a scholarly publication.

Authors remain fully responsible for any content produced or assisted by AI tools.

Any material use of AI-assisted tools should be disclosed in accordance with the AMRJ AI Policy.

11. Acknowledgment

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not qualify for authorship may be acknowledged with their permission.

Examples include:

  • research assistants whose contribution does not meet authorship criteria;

  • technical support;

  • language assistance;

  • administrative support; and

  • institutional or other non-intellectual assistance.

Authors should ensure that individuals are not acknowledged without their knowledge or consent where such acknowledgment could imply endorsement of the research.

12. Related Policies

Authors should also consult:

  • Author Guidelines

  • Types of Manuscript

  • AI Policy

  • Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

  • Conflict of Interest Policy

AMRJ is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects scholarly contribution and supports transparency, accountability, and integrity in academic publishing.
